Pismo Beach 8/11/11

Who wouldn't enjoy a weekend in Pismo!?!

We were so excited to go we didn't even look at our route until we were half way there (fyi: don't always trust your phones' GPS is giving you the best route), and ended up taking some backroads and we all got sick. Teagan threw up all over a Nike outlet's floor (abruptly ending our shopping trip ten minutes after it started) and after cleaning up Trey and Ashie sat on the hotel bed claiming sick before falling asleep in the hotel room around 7:00 pm. . . . Not the best day ever.

But going to Pismo the next day definitely made up for it. It was overcast and perfect weather for a day on the beach!

Ashelyn's birthday always seems to come and go so fast since it is Summer! She was so excited to turn 5! Daddy took her and her brothers camping the night before and then they showed up birthday morning about five minutes before her birthday party started!

Conference

Wasn't General Conference just amazing! (yes, I am a little late in posting this!)

As we were listening and QUIETLY playing in front of the t.v. all of a sudden Teagan ran to his room. He came running out very excited and holding his scriptures saying "Skippers!" "Skippers!"

It then dawned on me that he heard one of the speakers say scriptures and he understood!

Coleston is my Love baby. He gives the best hugs any of my babies ever gave. He actually lets me cuddle him. He is such a fun baby and just enjoys watching the world move around him.

Teagan is talking so much. I call him Willis because he just talks and talks in his one-year-old lingo and it reminds of a sentence in one of the kids favorite songs that says: "What you talkin bout Willis?"

School Started!

School started yesterday!

Tredyon was a little nervous about school starting this time. I love how sad he looks when he has a tear in his eye and he is telling me he doesn't know if he can go to second grade because he forgot how to spell all of his words! Giving him a hug was the best I could do besides laugh, because he is a good student and he knows how to spell all his words! Just imagine my face as I picked him up from school and he told me it was a good first day and he does know how to spell! Lol (Maybe I should have been more diligent about reading during the summer :)) Speaking of being smart, Treydon picked out a map of the United States shirt for his first day of school. I had to tease him that maybe he was going a little too far in trying to be the teachers pet! He looked at me funny and asked why. I mean who really wears a United States shirt on his first day of school especially when I got him some of his favorite skater shirts from Tillies?! Only my Treydon whom I sincerely enjoy having around!

Ashelyn was really excited for school to start. She got knew light up sparkle shoes, sparkle shirts, sparkle backpack (If you can't tell she likes sparkles!). She has Treydon's Kindergarten teacher and that made her excited too. She really likes Mrs. Nolte. I actually had to use school as bribery for her to get ready yesterday or she wouldn't be going to school! Today she asked me as we were headed to school if I could just drop her off! Oh boy! She is growing up way too fast and I can't enjoy her enough!

I recently told Quin I wouldn't mind eventually ending up and staying in San Diego. I seriously love it down there. Maybe its because of the beautiful ocean, or the beautiful weather, or the beautiful family members we have down there!

My family and I met up down at my sister Kirstin's place in San Diego July 10 - 15. Can I just tell you that there is nothing better than seeing my family and then letting them play with my kids while I relax :) I drove 5.5 hrs there all by myself with four kids (two being babies) and it was totally worth it!

We had some visitors come to OUR house . . . Yippee! Quin's mom, dad, sister Roneen and her kids all spent the week with us. There was lots of fun involved!

We ran down to San Diego to support Quin's nephew Connor in getting baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We thoroughly enjoyed Quin's brother's new house and their hospitality! We (the kids and I) really enjoyed the trip. Quin's phone is now working (after some swimming pool technical difficulties), so I think he will reconsider his thoughts on the trip! Lol

These boys have been giving mommy "a run for her money" as the saying goes. They definitely love to compete for my attention (I am so loved!).

Teagan loves to hold Coleston. Whenever Teagan wants me to put the baby down he pulls on Coleston's leg and points to the swing, as if to say "put the baby here, I want you to hold me now".

Teagan has been patient, but now with Trey and Ashie home to compete for the attention, he is quite flustered at times. We have had a lot of FUN and FRUSTRATING days these past couple of weeks!

This boy just keeps growing up, as was expected, but the newborn stage has disappeared and our baby just keeps advancing. This boy LOVES, LOVES, LOVES to SMILE! He knows I need this encouragement to keep going:)!

Treydon's baseball season is finally over! It was a long season, playing 13 games in all. He got to play with all of his friends from soccer, which was so much fun for all involved!

Treydon finished first grade! He is an amazing boy! He was one of the few kids in his class who never had to turn a card (which means he never got in trouble). I have since had to follow through with my promise of getting him a fish if he never turned a card! Trey loved his teacher, Mrs. Hunter (who happened to be in our ward at church), loved recess (because he got to play with his second grade soccer team friends . . . and he is sad he will change recess times next year !), and made so many new friends.

Treydon loves to play basketball in our driveway, trying to make ridiculous baskets from the side of the house or from on top of a rock. He loves video games, the trampoline, and his electric motorcycle. He allows his sister to tag along, holds baby brother for mom, and loves to slam dunk balls with little brother Teagan. Whenever dad is home you can find them outside playing basketball or glued to the t.v. watching some kind of sports game. His favorite thing to do lately is count his money (which I hope is a good sign and he will enjoy saving it) and listen to his MP3 player. He has recently developed an attitude, to which I laugh sometimes. My little boy is growing up WAY TOO FAST!

Ashelyn Graduated Preschool 6/2/2011

Ashelyn Graduated Preschool! For graduation the preschoolers got to have their faces painted like Dinosaurs (which was a hit for the kids. Ash loved it!). Ashelyn absolutely loved going to preschool, but every day was a lot for her sometimes. Her teacher described Ashelyn as: a girl who shared, cared, and worked. She knows everything (plus some) to enter Kindergarten. Ashelyn loved playing house, playing with her friends, singing and dancing (not a surprise!), and recess. She made friends with everyone in the class. Her teacher said she was the caring and sweet friend in the class, a mother to all!

Ashelyn does love to take care of her two younger brothers, read to them, and play any PS3 games her older brother plays (I didn't say she doesn't get frustrated at the games sometimes!). She also loves to sing, play computer games, and give kisses to anyone who wants one. Lately she has loved coloring, reading books, and only wearing outfits that sparkle.

Or atleast that is what Ashelyn is claiming! She begs for these every morning.

I get to them once a week during the school year, but now that school is "oh so soon going to be out (yikes)" I have plenty of eggs and flour on hand.

I have felt the spirit in so many ways this weekend, having family, celebrating Easter, and watching Coleston be blessed by his father has confirmed to me that I am the luckiest mommy and wife and sister and daughter . . . because Heavenly Father and Jesus love me (and my family) so much.

He is such a cute blessing to our family!

The story: Saturday afternoon around 2 p.m. I started to have hard contractions. I layed down and rested but couldn't, so the kids and I went outside to play. While out talking with the neighbor I realized my contractions were getting harder and closer together so I called Quin (who was at work, of course) and asked him to come home. I packed my bag and the kids bags. Then I had to bribe (by saying mommy really needed to go to the hospital to have the baby) my kids to come in. They were so excited that the baby was coming! Ashie ran outside and exclaimed: "Mommy has an appointment at the hospital!" Treydon got a huge smile on his face and claimed: "I told you he would come today. Remember mom? You said you would give me chocolate if I was right. Do I get my chocolate?" haha. Well Quin and I dropped the kids off at a friends, I ate some pizza (since I knew they wouldn't feed me there and who knew how long I was going to be in labor) and then headed to the hospital. On our 20 minute ride to the hospital Quin started to realize how hard my contractions were, to which I claimed: "I am going to have this baby by 6:30!" It was 5:30. We got to the hospital and after checking into the emergency room headed straight to delivery since I was having a hard time breath through my contractions. We got into the room at 6:00 p.m. and by 6:33 I was holding my sweet baby boy in my arms!

I never thought I would go natural and have a fast labor (which I did with Ashelyn), but twice! Sweet Coleston just really wanted to come out and start enjoying life!

He is such a sweet and beautiful baby!

This was Treydon's second year playing with the Green Machines - and can I tell you he loved every last minute of the games and practices that lasted from August to November! He is turning into his dad - with a love for soccer.

The Green Machines ended up going to a couple Thanksgiving championship games. They did awesome this year!

Trey got to play flag football this year (against his mother's will). He really enjoyed getting the football and scoring a few touchdowns. He even had a couple interceptions! He thinks he is professional now!

Thanksgiving was a lot of fun for us this year. Quin had a few days off and we had my sister Kirstin and her husband Cameron come visit us. We also got to enjoy the holiday with our friends the Empeys. My favorite part was the FOOD . . . and what pregnant lady wouldn't love mounds of food put in front of her:) Now my doctor on the other hand wasn't so happy with the ending results of my extending tummy:/ Oh well . . . that just means this baby is going to be cute and chunky!

This birthday boys' favorite part of his day was the balloons. They were everywhere - on his highchair, on the ground, floating in the air. As we got him out of his room in the morning all he could say was "eeww" "eeww" and just point and smile. He LOVES balloons!

Quin was putting the icing on the cake before dinner and Teagan starting pointing and whining. He really wanted His cake. So this is what he ate for dinner. (Look at that smile - he REALLY wanted that cake!)

Ashelyn's soccer team this year is the "Red Dogs". We even had to buy her some red socks to go with her outfit:)

It has been beautiful weather (below the 100's) the past couple of days. We finally ventured out and found our sand pile. I then allowed virgin Teagan to "dig in". It was worth the smiles I got, but his diaper would say other wise!

Treydon's school had a jog-a-thon yesterday. Teag and I stayed to watch. Treydon's teacher has her class tie-dye shirts for this event. It was pretty fun to see all the different kinds of shirts that were created.

School started this week. It crept up on me, and I actually "kind of" didn't want it to start so soon. Alas, the kids were excited so we pulled through and made it through our first day!

Treydon started 1st grade this year! All day school for him. He wasn't too excited about being at school for 7 hrs, but hasn't really complained since. He plays soccer at recess with second graders (who are on his soccer team) so that is all he can think about!

Ashelyn started preschool this year. She was super excited to finally get to go to school. She goes every day. One of her friends is in her class with her, and it sounds like they just play together and exclude everyone else! Her favorite thing is playing house, but I was informed she has to have a key to play and sometimes she doesn't get the key. Oh, the stress!
Now this kid gets stuck with mom for three hours every morning. Poor thing. Teagan loves his mom, but its really boring when its just me around. I did get some smiles out of him though. He loves water!

Heaven

Lots of good memories have gone through my head these past couple of weeks since I found out my grandpa Mitchell had acute Leukemia. I don't remember one bad memory about this grandpa who lovingly invited my family and I over every Sunday evening to enjoy being around loved ones. This past year hasn't been the best for him, but he kept on smiling through it all.

This picture reminds me of how happy he always was. This is him (and my grandma who loving stayed by his side these past four hard weeks) just relaxing in his dining room, in a hospital bed, with family all around him.

Well now he doesn't have to suffer any longer. He is just smiling at me from Heaven.

Utah Trip

We unexpectedly took a trip to Utah this past week. My Grandpa Mitchell was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia and not given much longer to grace us with his presence here on earth. So without asking Quin what he wanted to do during his only vacation week for months (sorry honey), I packed the family up and we skedaddled.

I got to see my cousin Ali whom I haven't seen in so long. These handsome boys are only one day apart!

It scared me for a second when I heard these words coming from my three year old daughter. . . And then I realized she got that phrase from me! I was quite shocked such a small phrase could sound so crude!

Well I lets just say I have learned my lesson over and over today -

"What the"

"What the heck"

"What the . . . oh my"

She has them all memorized

(Is it so bad that I smile every time I hear those phrases come from those sweet & innocent little lips!?!)

This Kindergartener turned six today. He has grown up way too fast, and he says he isn't slowing down.

Ashelyn made the cake. I think she did well for her first one!

Treydon got to have a birthday party last night with his friends. They had a "late-night" movie party, complete with lots of candy and all kinds of popcorn combinations.

Treydon started basketball. He was the MVP at his game this past week. He thinks that is pretty cool - and so do I!

Quin worked ridiculous and crazy hours through December so the kids and I ran away to my sisters house in San Diego for Treydon's last week of vacation. She fed us, took us swimming, and basically entertained us. We even got to enjoy the beach!Kirstin with Teagan (she enjoyed him a little too much!)

We just got back from looking at lights and seeing Santa!

Since Quin has been working nights, Treydon has had to help babysit while I put Ashie to sleep. I asked Trey where Teagan was as I walked into the room and just saw a pile of stuffed animals in his bed. After digging around I found the cute baby!

Occupying Matters

I think it is quite interesting how certain things can occupy my time at certain times in my life. Right now these certain matters are:

1. acid reflux

2. eardrum bursting

3. sinus infection

4. sleep deprivation

As a single young woman I thought having to get to work on time was hard enough. Now as a mother I wonder what more I could possibly handle - I am a mother after all!

I would not change anything about my life right now though, I am loving every minute of it!!!

(I got maybe three hours of sleep last night, my sinuses are killing me, the baby smells like rotten milk and is still cranky after his ear popping performance last night, and Ashelyn is sleeping right now because I gave her Tylenol to ease the pain of her ear. I am so glad Quin was able to take Trey to his field trip this morning!)

Update on our Baby

He sure has been a lot of fun. The kids can't stop giving him kisses and he gets ALL of their attention. There is no "Good Morning Mom" in this house anymore, the kids have updated their morning phrase to "Hi Teagie - did you have a good night?" I've also had to set some "no touching" limits during nursing and sleeping times!!!

This little bundle of joy was definitely sent from Heaven! It was an easy labor and after two pushes he slipped right out. He hardly cries too (I think I might have spoke too soon on this one!).

Mom and baby are doing well. We came home yesterday on the demands of two children who couldn't wait any longer to see their baby brother!!!

Here is the underrested father on baby Teagan's first night home. I think they beat both Ashie and Trey to sleep. Quin has been taking care of all of us, so he deserved a little rest next to his baby boy!

As we were unloading the car today (from my major, must needed, shopping trip) Trey asked if he could play football.

Sure!

He just tackled the offensive player (my toilet paper) who fumbled the ball and Trey recovered! Gotta love it!

I hope the "offense" can be salvaged.

Mitchell California Trip

My family came and visited in July. We all had so much fun and it was an event filled week! So here are a couple things that we did . . . .

We visited the Fresno Zoo.

My brother Nick, Ashie, Trey.

We ate LOTS of watermelon and should have had a watermelon bust EVERY night!

My dad and sister Candice.

We made sure the Fresno Temple was visited.

Treydon, Nick, and my dad swam every second they had in our pool in the back yard.

Treydon HAD to show off his school. And Quin actually got to hang out with us this time.

Labor Day

My dear friend Hayley invited us to her parents house for the day. It was so beautiful! Her parents live on a hill that overlooks so much farming, it was so peaceful and eye-opening!

That is until Hayley's dad got out the shot gun and everyone started shooting clay pigeons!

First Day of School

The kids and I were invited to go to the zoo with the van Beevers (either because they took pitty on us for not having Quin around or because they knew my kids would act up more than theirs!!!)

Glow in the Dark Miniature Golfing

Glow in the dark golfing CAN be fun if you DON'T HAVE two rowdy children wanting to get to the next hole as fast as possible, loud music to drown out you yelling at your kids, and a group of 10 people in front of you. That is why I always plan for the worst and TRY to make the best of it (and you better believe I can do this, I am a mother!). Quin had a "Golden Weekend" (a Saturday and Sunday off in a row - only happens once every two months around here!). So we took advantage of the situation and spent the day torturing Quin with games, rough housing, and miniature golfing (the kids have been begging for all of this)! We had lots of fun!!!!!

Pose Please!

During one of Treydon's soccer practices Ashie and I were playing with the camera. I asked her to pose, and this is the only picture I could get with her looking at me (after atleast 20 tries!). She is posing like her brother would pose with arms across her chest like a gangster! I love how she follows whatever her brother does.

I seriously think these shoes are so cute, but I don't know how she can manage playing on the jungle gym with them!?!

Ashie turned 3 today. My baby isn't so young anymore. I just look at her and wonder how my sweet baby girl got so big and independant.

For her birthday she insisted on everything red - red cake, red balloons, red pinata, and even a red play kitchen. So the theme was red. I couldn't do "just" a red cake so I made a red purse cake, to which she exclaimed "my pink purse cake!" and looked happily content. So I was safe!

I think it was funny that she chose her pink Minnie shirt to wear for her birthday party because she wanted everything red. I love the mind of a toddler!

We also made red (dark pink) cupcakes

and Trey made this red pinata and painted flowers on it for her (he seriously painted it himself!).
She said she couldn't turn three until her party, where her friends swam in our pool, broke the candy-filled pinata open, and ate cupcakes and icecream.

Pony Tails

Ashie insisted on having her orange bow that matched her orange shirt, but couldn't have just one pony tail. I put one on top hoping she would just forget about it and after much protesting ended up with THREE pony tails. And the two on the sides just "had" to be right by her ears so she could see them!

I love how she enjoys being a girl!

The story of Trey's shoes

Treydon has this pair of shoes that he loves. He "had" to get them last year at the beginning of preschool. They are from target (and weren't on sale so I wasn't overly excited to get cheaply made shoes prices at $17.99, but I did anyway to make him happy). Since then he wore them almost every day to preschool (unfortunately his dad has a shoe fettish and also bought him a pair of shoes worth over $70 and those still look new). The shoe laces have broke (the replacements are free laces from Children's Hospital where Quin works) and they also have holes in the toes to which I said we were throwing them away. Trey decided to "fix" them up so he could still wear them and this is the end product.

He has since worn them to the library, play group, and even to my doctors appointment! He "loves" them and insists they look even better than when we bought them (before they attracted string and tape). He wanted to take a picture and as I was looking through my pictures I "had" to post this picture. It just shows the determination of a five year old!

Stake Pioneer Day in Fresno

Today our stake put on a good rendition of Pioneer Day, with a wagon parade, homemade breakfast, and races.

We swang at the park and even rode a pony.

But the favorites were the more modern treats, like snow cones and cotton candy.

After today I am not so sure I can handle three kids by myself, especially since each kid wants to do different things. I felt like I was in two different places at once. Sure hope this baby boy is willing to sacrifice his wants for others, or to just be a sweet angel!

Golfing

Quin was able to spend some time with us today so we went Miniature Golfing. The kids think this is the funnest game ever! I am serious. They ask to play it once a week atleast. (If only we were that rich. I wonder if they have monthly passes available!?!) Trey is usually overly honest in how many swings he takes and Ashie likes to hit all the balls whenever she can. I think it is well worth the adventure to see Quin get a little antsie as Ashie hits his ball further from the hole!

Runaways

We went to the movies today. It's like the highlight of the week for my kids! Here is Ashie with her counterpart, and friend "coco", who thought it was quite funny to drive this three wheeler together. I can't believe my daughter has already figured out what can make her dad mad! I guess Quin will be talking to his parents (as soon as he has a second)!

The day turned out more productive than patriotic since Quin pulled his 30 hr for the second time this week. Poor guy had to work through the 4th of July. But don't worry, the kids and I are getting used to this "ridiculous" schedule, and we were able to party without him, somehow.

Yosemite National Park

Now that Quin actually has a job, he doesn't get any days off. So when one rarely comes along, we take advantage. Quin had the whole day off so we drove to Yosemite National Park, which is about an hour from our house, to see the HUGE Sequoias. The kids enjoyed skipping rocks, hiking, looking at waterfalls, and finding really interesting trees. I wanted to take some really big pine cones, like Kate did in Jon and Kate plus Eight, but I figured I didn't want to get caught (could you imagine a pregnant lady in hand cuffs because of really big pine cones!).

This picture is for MyKell who insists that I don't look pregnant. Quin took this for you when I thought he was taking a picture of the kids! I promise some how this picture just doesn't justify how big and pregnant I feel, and he calls me "fatty"!

June's Wonders

June came and went! It was such a crazy month. We got our moving truck on June 1st and packed it up, left June 2nd and took two days of slow driving (of course the truck had to have a governor on it - no higher than 65 mph) and made it to sunny Fresno California on June 4th.

Now most people would have a house to be able to drive up to and move in, but not with our luck! We came out to Fresno in March and looked for houses, but couldn't find anything we wanted to buy. That left us with renting and we had found something we liked, but in the long run the lady was being really "interesting". We, of course, didn't feel it was the right place to move into until the day before we left for Fresno. So we booked the local hotel for a couple days and hoped things would work out. We ended up getting a cute house with a play strucutre in the backyard, which was perfect for our kids. Plus we are so close to everything here in town. So we consider ourselves lucky. We signed rental papers June 5th (yes, a day after we got here we found what we were looking for) and moved in the next day.

Quin's parents drove out with us to help, which was very much needed. Thank You! They took over watching the kids while Quin and I unpacked. Here are Treydon and Ashelyn with grandma in their newly furbished sand box that grandpa took care of (grandpa was off doing nine hundred other things while I took this picture).

After Quin's parents left and we were sick of unpacking we decided to take a day off before Quin had to start working. We went to Millerton Lake which is about 20 minutes north of us. It was a beautiful day for playing in the water and eating a picnic lunch.

May's Excitements

May brought on lots of different adventures for us!

While I packed (seeing as we were moving) Quin had the whole month off. So it was his job to watch the kids. Ashie loves doing her makeup while I do mine, but this day she got a little too carried away while Quin was "supposed" to be watching her!

Quin's Graduation from Medical School

5/14/09 - 5/18/09

We flew out to Kirksville, Missouri , where Quin went to medical school and we enjoyed two years of our lives. It was fun to see old friends and to enjoy the beautiful, small town of K-ville where Ashelyn was born and Treydon learned how to play all kinds of sports.

We went to our favorite lake and found a turtle crawling around in the rain. Trey and Ashie were so excited and had to jump out and protect the turtle from the rain.

Here is Dr. Quin after graduation. He finally made it!!!

Quin's parents, sister Roneen and her family all came to the graduation. We are so grateful to have lots of caring family. After graduation Quin got to pick his favorite place to eat for dinner and of course it was the Pear Tree (if any one is from K-ville they will know what I am talking about - it's this fancy restaurant in another town about twenty miles south of K-ville that has the most delicious food).

We went down to Quin's sister Roneen's house in Arkansas for a few days, visiting church sites on our way down. We enjoyed their house one last time (atleast for now) before heading home.

Treydon (and Ashelyn's) Graduation

Treydon graduated from pre-k. We are so proud of him and all he learned! I cannot believe my little boy is going to go to "big kid" school now.

Here are Treydon's teachers - Miss Heidi and Miss KyLee (Quin's sister) - who also allowed Ashelyn to join preschool for the last month and graduate with Trey's class (the cutest part was all the kids treated her as part of the class and she acted the part too!). She just couldn't get enough of preschool and is now saying that Treydon wants her to go to Kindergarten with him. So I am not sure if those nice preschool teachers really did me a favor or not (cause I can't find a preschool for Ashelyn here in Cali - they are all full by now)! Treydon keeps reassuring her that she will get to go - what a thoughtful brother (now how do I break the news to her that she is only two!?!).

Memorial Day Weekend

We went and visited my brother Kayden at his grave. I am glad we were able to visit before we left. We left him some blue and white flowers (for BYU of course) and enjoyed the beautiful flowers all around.
