The night Kayden passed away we were on our way home and Treydon said Kayden is smart because he went up to Heaven to live with Heavenly Father and Jesus. A couple days after the accident Trey and I were downstairs at my parents house and he was trying to play a game on Nintendo 64. I don't know how to play these games, and Trey was getting so frustrated. He started to cry, and after some time he blurted out that Kayden always let him have the winning controller. He wanted Kayden to come play with him so he could win. Trey often says he misses Kayden, but he will be very careful not to get hit by a car because Nick (my youngest brother, just younger than Kayden) still needs Trey to play with him. These comments make my heart melt because Kayden was a role model to Trey.
Whenever Ashie sees a picture of Kayden she says his name in her own little language and smiles. I often think she sees Kayden's spirit around and knows that he cares about her. He always would come and steel her from me to give me a break. He would take her outside, her favorite place to play. He would take her on rides in her stroller, and he would get out the pet bunny for her to pet.
Kayden will always be remembered in our hearts!
In loving memory of Kayden Marvin Mitchell
Kayden Marvin Mitchell 1996 ~ 2008 Our beloved son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew and uncle, Kayden Marvin Mitchell, peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father's open arms on May 28, 2008.He was born February 11, 1996 in Salt Lake City, Utah. His days had always been spent surrounded by his loving family and friends. He has touched all of us in so many ways throughout his short, yet very memorable life. Kayden loved bike riding (the last thing he did that day), BYU athletics, four wheeling, swimming, ice fishing, snowmobiling, playing basketball, soccer and spending time with his nephew and niece. He loved going up to the family cabin where he enjoyed playing capture the flag, throwing rocks in the river, playing at the park, and anything he could do with his family. He was also a great example to everyone around him and created many lasting memories. Kayden was a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was ordained a deacon in the Aaronic Priesthood. He had received his Arrow of Light award, earned his first class in scouting and was currently serving as vice president on the student council at Jim Bridger Elementary. Although we will miss him every day, he will forever remain in our hearts. Through his great example as a child of God and his warm and loving smile with those contagious dimples, we were able to create wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to know him. Kayden is survived by his loving parents, Randy and Donnette Mitchell; siblings, Aubrey (Quin) Young, Brittany Mitchell, Randy D. Mitchell, Kirstin (Cameron) Jenkins, Camille Mitchell, Brandon Mitchell, Janelle Mitchell, Candice Mitchell and Nicholas Mitchell; nephew, Treydon; niece, Ashelyn; grandparents, David and Venita Mitchell, Don Lloyd, and Keith and Carol Ann Ludlow; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be Sat., May 31, 2008, 12 noon at the Oquirrh 6th Ward, 6667 South Clernates Drive (5300 W). There will be a viewing at church Friday from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. Under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home. Interment, Mountain View Memorial Estates. From the few times that we got to interact with Kayden, he was a great kid! Always playing with the kids and helping out! We will miss him too! And Trey is right, he is smart!
I am sorry to hear that. We went through this same things just a few short years ago when Mark's brother, Eric (14) was killed in a snow mobile accident while on a scout outing. Having the gospel in our lives is a true blessing during these times. Without that knowledge, life would be unbearable.
Your brother reminds me so much of Eric. He too was a wonderful uncle and a great friend to all who knew him, even at such a young age. It gives you such a testimony that we all have a plan and purpose. I am sure he will be missed.
Oh Aubrey. I'm so sorry! What a sweetheart your brother is. I'm so sorry.
I'm so sorry for your loss Aubrey.
Whoa, that totally caught me off guard. I am so sorry for your loss. That must be so hard for Nick to lose his big brother:( I hope your family is doing ok. Hang in there.
